Spring is a very special time in Nevada City, Grass Valley and Nevada County.
Our trademark daffodils come into bloom along our city streets and wildflowers blanket the mountains. A number of organizations host Daffodil and Spring runs.
South Yuba River State Park and Historic Covered Bridge
South Yuba River State Park at Bridgeport bustles with history and wildlife. The park is open year round from sunrise to sunset. Docents lead Wildflower walks along the South Yuba River 11 am Saturdays and Sundays March – May. The Visitor Center is open daily Memorial Day to Labor Day from 11am-4pm; Thursday-Sunday 11am-3pm during the remainder of the year.
Foothills Celebration
Downtown Grass Valley mixes its eclectic Gold Rush feel with a festival showcasing the region’s exceptional wines, gourmet food and live music, then combines it all with a downtown stroll of the town’s boutiques, restaurants and galleries. This is a chance to taste from more than 50 wineries and world-class restaurants, and have an unforgettable food and wine experience .
Foothills Celebration is a collaborative event of the Grass Valley Downtown Association and the Sierra Vintners celebrating where the vines meet the pines!
Nevada County Growers Markets
Nevada County Certified Growers Market opens in April and runs through November each at various locations including the Historic North Star House, The Rood Center, and in Penn Valley.
Nevada City Farmers Market is a Saturday morning community gathering offering high quality, locally grown products in Downtown Nevada City.
Other Entertainment
Grass Valley Downtown Car Show attracts antique car enthusiasts from around the country on the last Saturday in April.
Mid-May brings the Penn Valley Rodeo Week with three days of rodeo events and the parade finale! The Annual Penn Valley Rodeo includes bareback bronco, calf roping, mutton bustin’, breakaway roping, barrel racing, bull riding, and much more! Family entertainment for all ages.
